Theory: reblogging/retweeting is killing the internet. (Please retweet this and discuss.)

The part that’s killing it is the lack of original content (oddly enough an internet success is measured in peoples’ ability to ignore original content and rather repeat the same tired ideas, this is how something becomes known as a meme, the epitome of internet winning.  In addition, the internet rewards and reinforces this meme system with dialogues and in-jokes in that a failure to spot and use memes results in being ostracized from the group.  If you’re going to post original content you’d better be sure it’s good or that you can astroturf it long enough for everyone to think that everyone else thinks it’s good so they’d better like it too).  

Most of my reblogs have my own comments, I figure people don’t read my tumblr to see what I like, but instead I hope they read to see what I think about things.  If all someone does is reblogs a different source without commentary then I’m going to just follow the source and stop following the tumblrparrot.
