The RoboSheep Bleat

My name is Steve and basically I'm a huge nerd. Somewhere along the way I crossed the line from ironic to heartfelt but I think that's ok.

Minnesota. Ask me something

I love MPL my with my whole heart.

:: giant eyeroll ::
Buzzfeed lists this as a “brilliant” campaign. Let me tell you why it is a stupid campaign:
1) It essentializes libraries as simply places that house books. It undermines the myriad other services they provide and the civic/community functions they serve.
2) It is intellectually-elitist-at-best and luddite-at-worst in the most blatantly obnoxious way, in that it assumes that because people are online they aren’t reading. (See these things you are looking at? They are also words.)
3) On what universe does someone think they are going to win over or attract Internet users by positioning oneself as the anti-Internet? As if you could attract more fans to a sports team by being actively hostile towards every other team in the league. You’re not going shame someone into being on your side.

So let me get this straight;
I’m online reading about MPL’s advertisement about how you should be reading instead of being online where you would be, get this, reading.
